Summer Nights

I am loving the summer weather at the moment, although it is a shame that it seems to be really nice when I am working, and then rains when I am off. This means I haven't really managed to do many butterfly counts for the Big Butterfly Count. However, there is still time, and apparently it is not going to rain this coming weekend!!

So speaking of summer, our twist over at Creative Moments today is to make a summer themed creation. I have used Wine Tableau from Sparkle N Sprinkle for my card:

Again I coloured the image with promarkers. I mounted this onto a very patterned card base after fussy cutting. I cut some blue pearlescent card to sit in front of the table and added a sentiment strip to this. I then used a chipboard S and red peel-off letters to spell summer.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Card Mania #94 Summer Fun
Cute card Thursday #487 Summer Colours
CAGI – Summertime
ATSM #252 Make your Mark

I made a pudding with my Gooseberry and Raspberry crop that has been kept in the freezer. Hubby said they were really nice, but as they were bread based they were a little too heavy for my tastes:
And the moment you have all been waiting for - my new patio area:

Here are the previous pictures again just for comparison:

And here is the shed base now - and before:

The shed picture will follow as it was delivered yesterday, but it is a little wet at the moment to get a decent photo.

Thanks for looking and I cannot wait to see you summer inspired creations,

Decoration for a boy

It is a lovely day as I am starting to write this, but apparently it is not going to last, with rain coming in through the day. I also just saw a female dragonfly in my garden, but she was too flighty to get a good look at - she was a Hawker of some description, but no idea which one lol.

Anyway, we have a new challenge starting over at I Love Promarkers today, and this time we are creating for the males in our lives. We are sponsored by the lovely Dr Digi's House Of Stamps, and I have used...Hamish McDougal

I coloured him with promarkers (didn't write down which ones I used this time though), and then die-cut using X-cut nesting ovals Extra Large dies. I used two tropical double sided papers (quick cards magazine) to add a pop of colour to match the brightness of the kilt, and several peacock themed double sided papers for the remaining parts of the star.

The paper sheets were cut into 12x12cm sqaures and then folded in half. Cuts were made, measuring along the folded edge, at 2cm, 4cm and 6cm from the edge, from both edges. The cut stopped just short of the cetre, to keep the squares intact, and then when the square is unfolded the loose corners are joined together for each strip, alternating forwards and backwards to get the different patterns showing through.

I would like to enter this creation into the following challenges:

City Crafter #372 Something beginning with S
PFP #405 use 3 patterned papers
Allsorts #425 Fancy Folds
Fussy and Fancy #192 Anything Goes
Not just cards #46 Anything Goes

I also have a couple of pictures of my little girlies - Beau (blue) and Florance (green with a lack of tail feathers lol).

And some more pictures from my garden too:

I love the splash of red from the Gladioli, against the white wall
These are the planters I bought for the houses the own this bit of land, so that we can make it look a little bit prettier. I have also been given permission to put espaliered fruit trees down the wall on the left of this also :)

Thank you for looking and I cannot wait to see what you create for our challenge.

Bright Ice

Welcome to the weekend, and the big butterfly count has been live for a week now. How many counts have you managed to do so far?? We were going to do one today over in a meadow we found early in Spring, however it then rained and was slightly blustery, meaning not many butterflies on the wing. I will still submit my sightings though, as any recording is better than none - but it is best to do your counts when the sun is out if you want to have much chance of success.

And speaking of summer - here is a card I made for a friend with a summer birthday:

The letter is cross-stitched with pastels and metallics on black aida, which really makes it pop. I added it to a pre-embossed Forever Friends card blank and coloured the embossed areas in pastel promarkers. To finish I used alphabet stickers to spell out the sentiment.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Not Just Cards #46 Anything Goes
PFP #404 Bright Colours
Cute Card Thursday - Summer Colours

And here is a picture of our Baby Beau:
And of poor Florance after she dropped her tail feathers (she was fighting with my other female, Piper, and I grabbed her to make her let go, but she tried to fly away and I ended up just getting her tail).
Once again thank you for taking the time to view my blog,

Flowers at Christmas

Hi there,

Here I am with the reminder post for our Christmas in July twist over at Creative Moments. I have actually used Shadow Manger for this card. It is a nice simple card. I have simply printed out the image with a small border onto the card base. I then stamped the sentiment (Personal Impressions stamp) onto the top of the silhouette and heat embossed with Personal Impressions White and Silver Sparkle powder.

I would like to enter this card for the following challenges:
ABC christmas - N for new (digital image)/ O for old (sentiment stamp and embossing powder)
TIOT - Let it shine (the silhouette shines out from the black background - also sparkle embossing powder)
Jinglebelles - photo inspiration (I know what you are thinking - how? but it is the cosyness of the fire is like the manger, and the white stands out against the background, the same as my manger does)
 Polkadoodle - Christmas
Sweet stampin' - Christmas in July

I also have this floral creation to share with you all – made entirely from peel-offs. I used some stickers that I got from my mum for the main images, and then a glitter dragonfly and a papermania sentiment to finish.

This card is suitable for these challenges:
Quick Cards Floral challenge
Crafty Calender - Anything Goes
Alphabet challenge - I for insects
Addicted to CAS #115 Summer

I would also like to share with you some pictures from a recent walk around the local nature reserve at Magor Marsh:

this one is an ant carrying another ant - but really poor focus :(

And finally I would also like to share a dino update:
Thanks for looking,

Master of Boofle

Hello and welcome to a very blustery Wales lol. I have made a card using Boofle Cd-Rom and Digital Designer this time.

The elements were layered together in Digital Designer before printing onto A4 cardstock (although as I use a laser printer rather than an inkjet, it does seem to curl the edges annoyingly!). I then added pearls and a diamante (because I didn't have a blue pearl) to the blitter elements.

I thought that the image was perfect for moving into a new home at this time of year - what better way to have a housewarming than with a BBQ in the summer sunshine (that is of course assuming that we haven't had all of our allocated sunshine for the year now lol).

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Cute as a button #36 Summer Fun
AYLI - Pearls or Gems? - I like to use pearls for the centre of flowers, but I like using both at times. In this case I have done one flower with a gem instead and I think you can really see the different effect they give. In this case I think the pearls work much better.
Addicted to CAS #115 Summer
 MTTC #350 In the Garden
CCCB #370 Two colours only (I used brown and blue)

I have been having my patio done, and a shed base put down this week. Here is how it looked before:

I haven't got after pictures just yet, but will take some tomorrow once the rain and wind dies down a little bit! Now just to wait for the shed to arrive next week - yippee. I will then be able to get the large box of plant pots (and spiders) out of the bird room!

We went to the local Wildlife Trust open day event today, which was great fun. They had Reen Dipping and had managed to catch a Giant Water Beetle larva, as well as a couple of Dragonfly Nymph and a Newt Eft also! Not many butterflies for a Big Butterfly Count attempt though due to the poor weather - 3x Meadow Brown and 1x Small White. I did however find a small patch of Small Tortoiseshell caterpillars on some nettles, and saw a baby Water Vole. No pictures I am afraid due to the adverse weather.

I do have an audio book review for you again though:

Master of War by David Gilman
This is the story of a young archer (Blackstone) who goes to war in France to save the life of his brother, who has mental problems but a lot of strength. During the war the brothers make many friends, however the lives of both are nearly lost. Blackstone manages to cling to life, but will never be an archer again, and is left in the care of a noble French family. Their ward is already known to Blackstone as he saved her from certain death earlier in the story, and she helps him through the difficult times, enabling him to see a new purpose for his life, in which he can still serve his king and country. But not without danger. This was a good book, although the reader is a little OTT at times. I can’t wait to get hold of book #2 now.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog,

Christmas in July - part 2

Hello again everybody,

Time for another challenge and yes you guessed it - another Christmas in July challenge. We really want to get you thinking of the festivities - there are onlyjust over 5 months now until the big day lol. So for our challenge over at Aud Sentiments we are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and I have used the elephant christmas tree image.

I coloured this guy with Promarkers and fussy cut the edges before sticking onto a metallic card blank. I slipped a sentiment tag under the christmas tree to finish. I was limited as to what I could do with this one because the image is so brilliant, but my printer was having issues! Hence the having to fussy cut the edges, but I think it still looks ok.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
ABC christmas - O for Old (everything has been in my stash for a while now)
Deep Ocean #159 Christmas in July
MTTC #349 Christmas in July
SOS #311 CAS
Merry Monday #255 (based on challenge #236 Stockings)

I also have some recently picked veg to share!!!

The courgette has not been eaten yet, but the rest were very yummy, with the potatoes coming from my wormery!! Lots of nutrients but not much actual soil lol.

Here is another little spider too:

Thank you for looking once again,

Christmas Silhouette in July

So here is the post for our new challenge over at Creative Moments, which is a Christmas in July challenge. Of course we are always anything goes over at this challenge blog, but we would love to see you all getting in the festive spirit :). Our lovely sponsors for this challenge are Eureka Stamps and Polkadoodle. I have used a Eureka image, and there will hopefully be another one to share next week too (because we didn't get the sponsor images before I made my card so I am going to try and do another one to use my requested image too).

I simply coloured the start with gold metallic promarker and die-cut into a circle before layering onto a metallic purple card base. I then die-cut the snowflake decorated bauble on matt metallic card and layered this over the top. Nice and simple.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Merry Monday #255 (based on challenge #234 CAS)
SOS #311 CAS
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge #341 Snowflakes (in the bauble pattern)
C4C393 Travel Destinations (Bethlehem)
MMM #50 Ttavel/Vacation
Deep Ocean #159 Christmas in July
MTTC #349 Christmas in July
inkychicks #85 Christmas
ABC Christmas - N for New (digi and die)

I would also like to share an update on my fish tank with you all, now at 150hr34:

And a friendly little spider that was on our fence - quite a large zebra spider:

Watching the camera - if you zoom in you can see his eyes really well!!

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you over at these challenges :)

Rain Girl Thinking of You

Hi there and welcome to another Wednesday and some new challenges. The first new challenge I would like to tell you about is over at I Love Promarkers where IKEsART digis  are sponsoring us for our Anything Goes challenge. I have used Rain Girl   for my card:

I coloured the image with the following Promarkers: Henna; Lime Zest; Lime Green; Lime Twist Ltd ed; Antique Pink; Pink Carnation; Tropical Orchid Ltd ed; Budding Rose Ltd ed; Orchid; Amethyst; Plum Preserve Ltd ed; Powder Blue; Cornflower and March Hare Ltd ed. I also used Metallic Gold Letraset Marker.
I rounded the corners and layered onto a pearlescent green cardstock. I then layered a green marbled pattern paper onto a lilac card base and add a blue floral pattern to the bottom of this. The image was layered over these. To finish I added a sentiment and a die-cut edge (using a doily border that was from the same collection as the doily that I used to back my monster card) and a ribbon bow. I used colours that complimented the image for all my layers.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Catch the bug - outdoor fun (playing in the rain)
CCM #192 Tic-Tac-Toe (Ribbon-Digi-2patterned papers)
Scrapbook Stamp Society #120 Blue and Green
notjustcards #46 Anything Goes

I would also like to share our finds from the butterfly catching day out at the local RSPB wetlands reserve:
Can you see it?? Ok it is not in focus but once you find it you can tell what it is lol/
 Meadow Brown sunning itself
 A bit further away

 Tiger Moth
 Froghopper lol

And who is this?? As yet unidentified caterpillar!

I also recently finished another free cross-stitch kit from Emily Peacock:

Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog,
